When we walk into our serene Door County studio, which is housed in a fruit barn built in 1934, we look out our windows and see the natural beauty that inspires us and informs our shapes and glazes. Making beautiful pottery for people to use every day is our way of life and when our customers tell us they love using our pottery, that gives us joy. The stunning natural beauty of Door County, which is part of the southern end of the Niagara Escarpment in Wisconsin, sustains and supports us. There are so many elements to making handmade pottery; some of the most important are devotion to process and attention to detail.

purchased items are used daily and look beautiful the potter and his wife are friendly and love to share their knowledge and talent. stay for a demo and then shop, shop, and shop!

Always honest & friendly; we visit almost annually since about 1975 or 1980. Perfect packing! Our friends and family are linked by John’s pottery in their homes. Our 30 something daughter has watched him most years of her life and is beginning to throw bowls to “go with John’s in her and our home. The coffee mugs still fit my hands perfectly! And I sit in my Chicago home loving the water and fields and sands of Door County I hold in my hands!

Always a pleasure to visit with John and Dianne. We have accumulated a beautiful collection of their works over the past 35 years and add to it every summer. This is our go to gallery for meaningful wedding and anniversary gifts!

We've been enjoying EBP pottery for years. Their products are beautiful and well made. The pitchers pour without dripping. The bowls are lightweight because of their thin walled but sturdy design. Handles on all items are comfortable to grip. The glazes are gorgeous! We add to our collection almost every year on our visits to EBP (plus we love them for gifts).

We visit Door County 3 or 4 time/year and we stop at Ellison Bay Pottery every time. We have more than a dozen of their pieces and have also commissioned a vase from John that turned out beautifully. There are a number of very fine pottery artists in Door County. We have visited them all and bought pieces from most. Ellison Bay Pottery is, by far, our favorite pottery studio in Door County.
