About Dr. Landfield
Barry Landfield, MD, of First Med Marin in Greenbrae, California, is a highly experienced family medicine specialist located in Marin County, California. With over 45 years of clinical experience, he is dedicated to providing a highly-personalized, state-of-the-art, academic, concerned and compassionate standard of care to every patient on every visit. He offers men and women throughout the Marin area annual physicals, chronic management care, general health and wellness appointments, clinical exams, EKGs, diabetes management, diet, and weight loss management and more.
After graduating from Bronx High School of Science at the age of sixteen, Dr. Landfield received his undergraduate degree in aeronautics and astronautics at NYU College of Engineering and then attended medical school at NYU College of Medicine. Upon graduating, Dr. Landfield completed his surgical internship at Maimonides Medical Center and his surgical residency at Zion Hospital in New York, including surgical training on the very first heart transplant in the United States. Research projects included neurologic aspects of memory in humans at MIT and neurologic functions in squid at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts. Dr. Landfield subsequently served four years in the U.S. Army at the Flight Surgeon School and at the Aero Medical Research Lab. After his military service, Dr. Landfield worked for eight years in emergency medicine in metropolitan and rural areas and then in 1980 started his general and family practice, which has been his passion ever since. He has been a member of the Clinical Family Practice Department at Marin General Hospital since 2013 and on the Board of Directors of Meritage Medical Network since 2004 years. He has also been voted the Top Primary Care Doctor by “Best of Marin Program” by Pacific Sun Magazine in 2017 and 2018 and has been voted one of Marin’s top doctors by Marin Magazine for several years. In addition to his extensive expertise in general, family and surgical medicine, Dr. Landfield excels in giving time and attention to his patients to ensure they feel comfortable and understand the issues at hand. He has the heart of a teacher displaying an excellent ability to explain complex medical issues to patients in recognizable metaphors and vocabulary.
