After 6 years of going to this clinic with all of my pets and after spending almost 14 THOUSAND dollars at this clinic in those 6 years the Chief of Staff Kopman has decided that he is "not comfortable" performing the neuter surgery on my new puppy. Background story: 2.5 years ago he performed the spay on my 6 month old Pekingese and it did not go well, in my opinion. I've had 10+ pets over the past 30 years and some do better than others but this little girl was in a lot of pain post-surgery. Keep in mind that this was during the height of the pandemic so I could not get her into any ER to try to reduce her pain or get another opinion and trying to get an appointment back with this clinic was difficult as well. The pandemic and severe vet shortage only added to the stress of this surgery. That said, they did squeeze me in and I returned to the clinic several times questioning why she was in so much pain and why she had so much discharge and pleaded with them to help her. I asked for a different doctor so I could obtain a second opinion and this, from what I can determine, is where Kopman's ego took a hit as I was told by the office manager Renee that he had written notes in my file that I had "trust issues". So, from what I can tell, if you question this guy's work he's going to notate your file and then refuse to perform any other surgery on any of your other pets!! I mentioned above that he's the Chief of Staff so, according to office manager Renee, NOT ONLY will HE not perform any surgery but neither will he allow any of the other vets to do so. I will NOT feel bad about advocating for my pet! Her experience was nothing like any of the other 10+ pets (both dogs and cats) that I have had and have been spayed/neutered so of course I'm going to question his work! SHE WAS IN PAIN! I'd like to point out that I new nothing about these notes for the entire 2.5 years after that surgery where they CONTINUED TO TAKE MY MONEY for everything else! I only learned about those notes 2 weeks ago when I tried to schedule my new puppy for his neuter. And, after 7 YEARS of my loyalty and patronage AND after taking almost 14 THOUSAND DOLLARS from me, Kopman didn't even have the decency nor the guts to call me HIMSELF and tell me this information. He had office manager Renee do it instead. SHAME ON YOU KOPMAN AND SHAME ON YOU HEARTHWOOD! For those of you reading this, if you want to place yourself in a situation where you are not allowed to question the chief of staff's work then go ahead and keep giving this clinic your money. For those of you who refuse to let vet egos get in the way of advocating for your pets then I recommend you go someplace else.
