Everything started off great. L.A.C did a pretty good job last year paving our driveway. The cost was $2200- pretty reasonable, we added a small pad to the existing driveway. During the process Leonard ran out of asphalt, so he had to get more so it left a crease that was visible that he said he was going to fix. We contacted him many times throughout the season to seal coat our driveway/fix, many text messages and phone calls went unanswered. We understood that he was probably busy and that’s why he wasn’t responsive for all of those months, so we waited out the fall and winter.
Fast forward to the spring. We text him and called him with no response. We expressed that we wanted to get the driveway fixed and seal coated. Last year he quoted us $300 or so to fill the few cracks that we have, and seal coat the driveway, we still have that quote in our cabinet. After many attempts to get in contact with him (since March) we finally got in contact.
We noticed he stoped by on a Friday, and was there for two seconds and didn’t even announce himself. We saw him leave on our camera. The next day my wife sent me a text message saying that he wanted over $2000 to SEALCOAT our driveway! YES ONLY TO SEALCOAT AND MINIMAL CRACK FILLING. This was almost 7X the cost that he quoted last year! We could not believe it. He was taking advantage of us because he knew that we were desperate to get our driveway seal coated and fixed from what he did last year. I called him out on his predatory actions and he got extremely irritated. He blamed the 7X original cost to Joe Biden, and inflation.
Again, he did a pretty good job with what he did last year. His unresponsiveness, lack of standing behind his work, as well as price gouging really concern me. Do your research and hire a company that has a long documented track record.
His family owns many paving companies using the last name Cooper. From what I understand they do a VERY GOOD job. I just wish that this company (LAC) would do what his family has done, quality work that they stand behind, plus professionalism. It’s really too bad that it came to this because I really thought Leonard was a great guy last year.
