Hal Wilson, MD, of Maxwell Medical Group in Scottsdale, Arizona, spent his childhood in Missouri, where he later graduated from the University of Missouri at Columbia. He’s board-certified through the American Board of Family Medicine.
Starting his medical career as a locum tenens – or traveling doctor – Dr. Wilson used the experience to care for a wide range of patients in a variety of settings throughout the country. He assisted other physicians while they were away from their practices, and patients found his adaptability to be a good fit while their regular physician was away. Dr. Wilson used this experience to guide and develop the concept behind Maxwell Medical Group, which he founded in 2000.
Although Maxwell Medical Group is not a setting for emergency medicine, Dr. Wilson uses the skills he developed while practicing in ER settings, balancing compassion with this demanding environment. Dr. Wilson worked full time in the Emergency Room for ten years while simultaneously starting up Maxwell Medical Group. Dr. Wilson credits much of his diagnostic sensitivity, capability, and skillfulness to his ER experience. Many of Dr. Wilson’s ER colleagues continue to choose him as their personal physician, validating both his professional manner and his competency regarding the practice of family medicine.
Dr. Wilson values the trust placed in him by his patients; they often comment on the difference in the care they receive, the reason behind the Maxwell Medical Group's success. The practice targets medical care that advertises itself through word of mouth.
Away from the office, Dr. Wilson enjoys sharing time with his wife Katalina and their three Shiba Inu dogs. He's an avid remote-control pilot who appreciates the Arizona climate. Dr. Wilson has experienced the training and challenges of a triathlon, enjoys reading, movies, and playing chess while maintaining a physically fit lifestyle.
