My Father in law is in room 520. When we walked into room it smelled like urine. IV was beeping it took nurse Mandy 1 hr 1/2 to check on IV. My Father in law had two IV sites. The one on his right thumb was not being used but it was still connected to tubing and IV site was reddened and he was in pain. His hand was swollen. Pt is bedrest and should be turned Q2hrs to prevent bed sores. I understand that nurses are busy but they should check on patients and assess adequately. My Father in law is a high risk patient and has trouble communicating his needs. When he uses call light person answering may not understand or hear him but that is no excuse for staff not to be checking on him.
