My 11 year old son and myself spent the day learning fly fishing. Not only was the captain helpful and nice, he was also an expert in that field. Always nice to see pros in action. We both had so much fun and caught plenty fish. They had a really nice boat, beverages and snacks for us. We had a bunch of memories created that day. Recommend these guys to anyone. Top notch business all around

Amazing time with Mike on the trip logistics (effortless) and Shane on the guiding. Fantastic wknd with my son who landed his first fish ever on a fly and several after that with Shane’s instruction. The Fly Shop was great as always and can’t wait to get up there again. Don’t hesitate. You’ll have a blast too.

Focusing on the small, moving stream/fork waters around Lake Almanor, my outstanding all-day trip with Guide Mark Antaramian started early on the North Fork Deer Creek and then moved onto two spots on North Fork Feather River feed waters into Lake Almanor. Mark’s knowledge of the local waters put me onto fish and his excellent instruction helped me deliver the flies where they needed to go (even though I still need a *whole* lot of practice with my delivery). I had my share of grabs, a number of hookups (and – ahem - a couple of “conservation releases”), and the landing of a 13” beauty! I highly recommend Mark’s services and look forward to my next guided trips to Eagle Lake and other waters around and on Lake Almanor.

Off the Hook Flyfishing was fantastic. We were flying in from SC and Mike was so helpful and matched us with just the right guide. We were in Yosemite National Park, and David, our guide, was able to give us recommendations on everything from restaurants to what to make sure to see in the park. When we met him on our scheduled trip, he was kind, professional and welcoming. I was the only one with experience flyfishing so it was important to me that my husband and son had a good first experience. David fulfilled my Hope's and more. He taught them the basics of flyfishing and put us all on lots of fish! We had such a great time. Thank you David for imparting your passion for flyfishing on my guys! We now have a new family activity we all love!

These guys are literally the "one stop shop" for everything you need to fish in the Northern California/Sacramento River area. They hooked me with up license, steelhead card, equipment, and -- best of all -- a local guide, Steve, who literally made my day out on the river the best possible scenario (I had never fished the Sacramento previously). Born and raised in the area, Steve has more than 3000 hours on the River and knew every riffle, every buried stump, every fishable pocket of the Sacramento. We caught different species of trout, a few suckerfish, and (best of all) some winter-run steelhead under his guidance (his fellow guide/friend even brought in a salmon). I would heartily endorse Off the Hook and the Fly Shop -- I will be returning for another visit and think that every kind of sport fisher (experienced or novice) would benefit from their assistance. A+.

This was my 1st fly fishing experience. Peter was an excellent Teacher! He was very patient as I learned the mechanics of casting, mending line, hook setting and fighting fish on a fly rod for my first time ever. Additionally, Peter took the time to explain why we were fishing different sections of the river, taught me how to read the water, pointed out the different flys he saw floating and flying above the water. He also explained what and why he was tying on the various flys which were foreign to me. Once we got on some fish, he worked his butt off rowing me back up stream so that we could re-float that section of the river. Peter, you were an awesome guide and I look forward to getting out with you again soon!

Off the Hook is great. I’ve booked three trips with Off the Hook and each time they have surpassed my expectations. On my most recent trip with Off the Hook, I took my 12 year old daughter for her first time fly fishing and the guide was an amazing instructor. My daughter had a blast and landed 6 rainbows! The guides with Off the Hook are knowledgeable, humble, and very encouraging. I highly recommend using Off the Hook for your next fly fishing trip.

I recommend Off the Hook Fly fishing with guide Dan LeCount. First time fly fishing and queen of bad habits. Dan was so patient with me. It was cold, it rained, it hailed and the wind blew and it was awesome. Look Forward to going again. The last cast of the day was Dan with a long cast on Prosser Lake. Watching him cast that line was a thing of beauty. Mike was great to work with in making the arrangements. I had a limited window I could go( one day only) and he made it happen. Such a wonderful experience.
