I hired Old World Roofing over a year ago to replace my roof. They replaced the roof while totally ignoring the manufacturer’s installation instructions and installed the metals panels’ wrong which voided the UL certification of the metal panels for wind and fire. It took me over a month with the help of Under Writer's Laboratory and McElroy Metal (the metal panel manufacturer) to convince OWR they installed them wrong and they agreed to replace the roof and skylights. OWR told me they were ordering the materials but the supply chain was taking time, blah, blah, blah. Now, today, 11 months later they say the roof and skylights are good enough and they have abandoned the contract. I was notified they abandon the contract by a demand letter they sent me to pay them. And with the rain we have received lately I discovered the roof leaks.
I also hired them to install two $2700 skylights which OWR changed the skylights from the ones listed on my invoice to a different model without my knowledge or consent. I found out after they installed them. OWR also dropped something on them and severely damaged one of them, and now after previously agreeing to replace the skylights, OWR now refuses to replace them as well.
5 months after the contract started (November 2021, contract started June 2021), OWR sent me an "addendum" to sign that basically would have relinquished my rights if I signed it. They could literally take the panels off the roof, put the same panels back on and there would have been nothing I could do about it. Since I refused to sign the addendum they won't fulfill their original contract with me that had no such addendum, or they would not have been hired to begin with.
I'm now waiting to see if their insurance company will pay for the damages this company has done to my house. They did a terrible job and then got hostile when I had to keep pointing out things they did wrong. My insurance adjuster came and looked at the roof in disbelief, he said he'd never seen anything like it.
I can't stress enough, do not hire this company. They will sign an agreement, and then THEY will tell you what you will get, and you will pay for it. And if you don't you will end up where I'm at. With them trying to force you into signing something you don’t want to for them to finish the contract. I didn’t sign the addendum so they abandoned the contract.
