We wanted to learn more about this two-time award winner and how they managed to build such an impressive online reputation, so we took a few minutes to talk with David Broyles, the owner of Calvin Broyles Jewelers.
The first thing we wanted to know was what makes Calvin Broyles Jewelers a one-of-a-kind jewelry store in West Virginia. Here’s what David had to say:
“We really make an effort in trying to understand what it is that our client is looking for and not trying to sell them what we have. We go above and beyond in making that next purchase a great experience and by providing what they’re looking for at a more-than-competitive price. We give service after the sale and try to build relationships as opposed to just making sales. We look for that long-term client who we know when they walk in the door they’ll feel comfortable and know they’re in good hands.”
We also asked David what their mission is at Calvin Broyles Jewelers and how they work to make the world a better place. Here’s his response:
“We’ve been in South Charleston since 1947. We’ve been in the Putnam County area for over 30 years, and now we’ve been in Beckley for six years, which is where my mother and father are from. So we know that, without the strong community support that we have, we couldn’t be who we are. We like to give back to the communities… We have a strong presence and have always been involved, especially in Kanawha and Putnam County, in civic organizations, on boards of hospitals…”
David went on to say:
“My youngest son, Beau, has developed a Heart in West Virginia pendant and jewelry line, which is the outline of the state of West Virginia. He puts a heart in the center of the piece, and it can be any birthstone. We do a tremendous job with that and a portion of our proceeds from the sale of the product go towards a scholarship fund that we do every year. For the last four years, we’ve given away four $1,500 to $2,000 scholarships each year to West Virginia high school students who go to West Virginia universities…”
