Matthew set out to create a business plan that would reinvent the moving process.

The name, “Helping Hands,” comes from the fact that they also help customers haul away usable but unwanted furniture. Instead of throwing this furniture away, the team at Helping Hands cleans it, restores it and gives it to those in need, including single parents, displaced women, homeless people and victims of fires, domestic abuse and more. They do this through local charities, and if they cannot find a new home for the furniture after a certain amount of time, they sell it and then donate the funds to those charities. They’ve also used the funds to help a young mother who went through three brain surgeries, as well as to aid those who can’t pay their utility bills.
