We spoke with Louis Dominion, the owner of Union Barber Co, about the business’ online reputation.

Louis and his team believe in preserving the art and experience of an old school barbershop while modernizing in ways that make the shop more inclusive and welcoming than many in the past. Here’s what he said when we asked how he makes a difference:
“Barbering is truly one of the last remnants of what we like to call ‘the good old days.’ In the modernized world, it’s hard for people to put down their phone and interact with the world around them. We don’t have TV’s like a lot of shops, so the human element and sense of community we foster between our barbers and our clients is an integral part of what the Union Barber Co experience is all about; a brief respite from chaos where the hard-working men and women of Portland can kick back, sip on a cold beer or a bourbon, and take some time to unwind.”
