Not Your Average Dance School
We wanted to learn a little more about Champion Legacy Dance Academy, so we took a few minutes to talk with the owner, Angela Nieman.
The first question we had for Angela was what it is that sets Legacy Dance Academy apart from the many other dance schools in South Dakota. Here’s her response:
“We really challenge our athletes. We teach dance as a sport. All Stars studios and the kids compete throughout the year, and so it really pushes them to be their absolute best in walks of different styles, like hip hop, pom dancing, jazz and lyrical. So, I think it is the variety of dances that we offer, and we teach kids three on up. Kids really just enjoy competing in dance and getting to show off what they are working on.”
We also wanted to know what their mission is at Champion Legacy Dance Academy and how they work to make the world a better place. Here’s what Angela had to say:
“It’s important for my kids to not only push themselves in practice but they also in their academics. We do team GPA challenges, so we really push the kids to be the best students they can be. They also do a lot of community volunteer projects to give back to our community. So we just really try to get them to be well-rounded children growing up that also have a really incredible work ethic.”

“We have a really good website. We use Facebook. We don’t do a lot of TV advertising or anything like that. We perform a lot of in our community, and my parents and families are probably the best salespeople. They bring in a lot of friends and people… I think that’s the number one way to get a positive message out about your program, through your parents and your families.”
