An Interior Design Firm That Gives Back
We were excited to learn all about Delia Designs and how they have gotten where they are today, so we sat down with the Founder and Principal Designer, Tina Delia.
The first thing we wanted to know was what it is that makes Delia Designs stand apart from its competitors. Tina told us about her qualifications and years of experience:
“I will have been in business 10 years this year! A lot of times, clients select me because they look at my previous projects and like what they see, and once they meet me, I establish trust and respect. I have my masters in interior design, and that gives them peace of mind about my professionalism.”
Tina is also actively giving back to the world of interior design and does so much to mentor and guide young, hopeful designers.
Tina teaches adult interior design classes at Moore College of Art and Design, which is a certification program for interior designers.
“I participate in ACE Mentor Group — architecture, construction and engineering — where teams of high school students come together to learn about the industry. I’ve been a mentor for the past few years. It’s a good way to give back to the industry, and I think it’s really important to arm students who are going into the industry with the right knowledge. I hire a new (paid) intern every year and try to mentor them as well. I also participate in the Young Artists Workshop, where high school students learn about interior design to decide if it’s something they want to do.”
Building Success, Online And Off
Delia Designs has earned a fantastic reputation, so we wanted to know more about the different ways they have been able to get their name out and grow their business. Tina said that she has used social media platforms, SEO (search engine optimization), and that she keeps up with posting to her blog. She said:
“I write a blog post every week, and I do email marketing, and then just networking since most of my clients are commercial clients.”
She told us about how important reviews are and gave us a tip about how she effortlessly asks for them:
“I do ask for reviews because I know it’s important for SEO, so after a project ends, I send a quick note thanking them, saying it was great working with them, that I hope that they are happy with the services, and asking for the review.”
