We wanted to learn what makes this award-winning business tick, so we took a few minutes to talk with Jason Davis, the owner of Kyumei Ju Jitsu LLC.
To kick off our conversation, we asked Jason about what it is that makes Kyumei Ju Jitsu LLC unique compared to the many other martial arts centers in West Virginia. Jason told us:
“Our system is street-effective self-defense, not a sport. A lot of people nowadays are in the business of selling the sport of martial arts and calling it self-defense. We don’t do that. We teach true, traditional self-defense.”
We also asked Jason about the Kyumei Ju Jitsu LLC mission and how they work to make the world a better place. Jason shared with us a little bit about how they give back to their community:
“We host a backpack and school supply drive every year. We’ve done it for the last seven years…”

Nobody’s treated any better or worse than anyone else, and we work to help each other out. We have parents on staff who help kids who might fall behind in school work. We’ve had parents in the past that were psychiatrists and psychologists and counselors who have helped kids and parents who have had issues… So we keep everything tight and family-oriented.”
