We were excited to learn all about David Lory VanDerBeek Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and how they have gotten where they are today, so we sat down with David Lory VanderBeek.

“I am not interested in a specific model; I am interested in people. I craft my practice to the needs of the individual. I really specialize in post-traumatic stress disorder. I do a lot of PTSD, whether it’s accidents, military, abuse, domestic violence, or different types of trauma and loss. A lot of psychiatrists shy away from that, but I like to approach things differently. I learned early-on that we have the opportunity to get to the root of different disorders, but a lot of people just diagnose symptoms, and not the cause. I will spend hours with somebody to get to the root of their problem and make them feel safe.”
He went on to tell us more about his background and some of the ways he works with people:
“I use energetic psychology, whether it’s through acupressure or yoga. I know how to attack trauma in an effective way… Spirituality is very important to me, as well. Almost every single client believes in a higher power, so working on things on an intuitive level is very important. As a grad student, I was exposed to a lot of holistic methods and plant-based healing. Using all my modalities helps speed the healing up. I am not interested in alleviating symptoms; I do healing and success consciousness. The bad has to be replaced by something positive, permanently.”
David shared:
“I work alongside my clients, not telling them what to do. The answer emerges from within, I just have to present the questions.”
