Jerry Daugherty, the owner of Jerry’s Barbershop, generously gave us a few minutes of her time to tell us about this one-of-a-kind business and its award-winning online reputation.
The first thing we wanted to know was what it is that sets Jerry’s Barbershop apart from the many other barber shops in Tennessee. Here’s Jerry’s response:
“You have to separate yourself. I wouldn’t try to get someone to leave their barber shop if they had one, but I can guarantee that, once they came here, they would want to stay for the environment. It’s somewhere a single guy can come to, but it’s also somewhere where a family of four can come.”
We also wanted to know why they do what they do at Jerry’s Barbershop and how they work to make the world a better place. Here’s what Jerry had to say:
“Every day, I want to come to work and make that guy or girl have a better day. If you put a fresh cut on somebody, they will already be in a better mood. If you can stand here and be a friend to them, customer by customer, you are making the world a better place.”

“My format was to try to emulate the place I worked before, which was a good neighborhood barber shop. We have the best product at the best price. Guys like to come to take a load off and chill. You sell yourself as much as the haircut. We are active in events and sporting events, and are a part of the community. We are hands on, and we really care.”

Add a little bit of personal service, offer a good product and extend yourself, because that is what is missing in the digital age.”
