Not Your Average Catering Company
We were excited to learn all about Jeff Thomas Catering and how they have gotten where they are today, so we sat down with the General Manager, Susan Remley.
Jeff Thomas Catering started 33 years ago by the owner and creative director, Jeff Thomas. Susan is Jeff’s sister, and she told us about how they got their start:
“As young children, our parents were always into fine dining. Our mom was a great comfort food cook. Jeff would take that comfort food and put a spin on it. Jeff would travel internationally and learn even more about cooking. Going out to fine dining was our entertainment.”
We wanted to know what it is that makes Jeff Thomas Catering stand apart from their competitors. She told us about how important it is for them to customize their offerings and take the needs and wants of each client into consideration:
“The unique thing about our company is that we don’t have packages. Jeff meets with the clients and really listens to what they have in mind for their wedding or event, and he takes it one step further with his suggestions. He will keep their budget in mind and create something above and beyond what they expect, and it’s always different! We truly will customize each and every event.”
She continued by telling us about some of their unique offerings and how creativity and exceptional customer service have helped them to stand out:
“Our Event Coordinator, Kristen Holbrook, has added even more creativity to some of the possible menu options, such as alcoholic cotton candy, and adds unique decorations that make the food fun. We are the trendsetters in Cincinnati. We are very detail-oriented; our service is just as important as our food.”
She also told us about their business mission, which she said is to create special moments in life.
Building Success By Believing In Themselves
Jeff Thomas Catering has earned an impressive reputation, so we wanted to know about how they have grown and gotten their name out. Susan told us that, for years, their greatest source for new business was word of mouth, but that they have also gained some recognition because Jeff is so active in the community. He works with the Children’s Home of Kentucky, the Brighton Center, The Dragonfly Foundation, and Caracole. He also makes donations to the arts and to the University of Cincinnati.
