Not Your Average DJ
Tom started DJing for fun in high school. He and his friends did neighborhood events and school dances. He went to college for zoology before finding work at The Lincoln Park Zoo. Eventually, Tom changed careers and become a police officer, which is the inspiration behind the company name, Five-O DJ Entertainment. Tom was inspired by another officer on the force who was a DJ. After chatting with him and learning about modern-day DJing, he realized he
missed being a DJ. In 2010, Tom decided to start his own DJ company, Five-O DJ Entertainment.
We were excited to learn all about Five-O DJ Entertainment and how they have gotten where they are today, so we sat down with the owner, Thomas Krejczyk.
The first thing we wanted to know was what it is that makes Five-O DJ Entertainment stand apart from its competitors. Thomas told us all about his dedication to communication, as well as his unwavering passion and commitment for what he does:
“I’m very old-school with my approach. I’m just not going to plan a couple’s biggest day of their life on an app. I’m going to have face-to-face meetings and sit-down planning consultations to plan the details of the event. I use the lost art of old-fashioned, in-person communication. I also have a planning workbook that I give to the clients, and I go through it with them, which explains how to plan a ‘typical’ wedding. It also includes worksheets that they complete and return to me to help me plan the day, documents what they are looking for, and how they want me to run the day. During weddings, I try and help out with other vendors if they need it, and help with any coordinating of the wedding. Because I do have a stable income source, DJing is a passion, and it’s not just a job to me. As a result, your event gets 110 percent of all my effort and attention at a lower cost than other professional DJs!”
We asked him about the Five-O DJ Entertainment business mission, or how he works to make the world a better place, and Thomas said:
“I patrol the streets by day and DJ by night, and my motto is: professionalism with personality.”
Building Success Through The Years
Five-O DJ Entertainment has earned a fantastic reputation, so we wanted to know more about how Thomas has managed to grow his business. He told us:
“When I first started, I did a lot of ads to get my name out there, but now, most of my business is from word of mouth and referrals. A lot of my business still comes from TheKnot.com as well. For the last two years, I have been fully booked for every weekend of the year, so I’ve grown the business to be as busy as I can handle!”

“Don’t ever lose the art of communication. You need to constantly communicate with your customers. That means answering the phone when you are available and calling customers back promptly.”
