Mike Zhorela, the co-owner, Goldmsith, Master Gem Setter and GIA Diamond Specialist at River City Jewelers, generously gave us a few minutes of his time to tell us a little more about this one-of-a-kind jewelry store and its impressive online reputation.
To start our conversation on the right foot, we asked Mike what makes River City Jewelers stand out when compared to their competition in North Dakota. Here’s his response:
“When you are speaking to us, you are speaking to a jeweler, a gem setter. We build [our jewelry] from the ground up, and later, if you have an issue, we can repair it.”

“[Our mission is] to satisfy the customer’s needs. Be it a new wedding set or a simple repair, we’re here to help, and by doing it in-house, we can do it faster and it cheaper. We have a lifetime guarantee on any of the jewelry we sell. [If there’s] a broken clasp or a missing gem that fell out, we’ll have it back to you by four o’clock.”
Mike also told us that they are big in the local arts scene, and that they make donations and attach themselves to local events, including concerts and plays:
