We were excited to learn all about Somebody Loves Me Bridal and how they have gotten where they are today, so we sat down with the owner, Betty Shannon.
The first thing we wanted to know was what it is that makes Somebody Loves Me Bridal stand apart from its competitors. Betty told us that Somebody Loves Me Bridal can handle alterations, and is also a full retail shop. This place is truly all-inclusive and can do everything, from making custom veils and headpieces to hemming jeans and doing alterations on vintage dresses. Betty said that she knows that fittings can be long and nerve-wracking, so she does everything she can to help calm her clients’ nerves, which includes always having baked goods and chocolate available!
Betty is incredibly personable and is open and communicative with her clients, always making sure to let them know exactly what she needs and what her time-frame is. Betty said that while any shop you go to for a dress should be friendly, she works to also make the experience fun. Rather than the standard “I said yes” sign, she has one that says, “I said forever,” for when a bride finds their perfect dress.
Betty has sold dresses all over the world, and carries exclusive brands and gowns that cater to all body types. Betty is very passionate about having options available for plus sizes, as well as about working with same-sex couples!
Building Success And Giving Back
Somebody Loves Me Bridal has earned a wonderful reputation, so we were excited to hear about some of the ways they have gotten their name out and grown their business. Apart from being recognized for outstanding service, Betty said that they have been able to reach out to their community through social media. They also customize the Sea Goddess’ dress every year for the Maine Lobster Festival, which is a 501(c)4 organization that gives back to the community. They frequently participate in silent auctions by donating gift certificates for any kind of alteration. She has also gifted a dress to a terminally ill girl in the community, who she had gotten to know through building a relationship with her and her mother during a visit.
