“I took my girlfriend to Main Street Cafe on Friday night. I had heard some positive things about the place and decided to check it out. We were not disappointed! I had the prime rib, which was excellent, and my girl had the fried flounder, which she thoroughly enjoyed. I had to try the desserts, and the cherry/ blueberry pie was incredible! The banana cake was also a big hit, but I didn’t get to try it as Donna finished it before I was done with the pie. Topping it off, we also got to listen to Adam Murray on the deck after dinner. Not Your Average Restaurant
We wanted to find out what makes this downtown Harrington gem so special, so we took a few minutes to talk with the owner, Beth Camac.
The first question we had for Beth was what is it that sets Main Street Cafe apart from their competition in Delaware. Here’s her response:
“It’s probably the atmosphere and customer service. We’re really hands-on with our customers and tend to them very well. This is a small town, so that’s very important! We serve all fresh-made, home-style cooking. You won’t find any Sysco products here! We use all fresh ingredients.”
Beth went on to tell us that Main Street Cafe is locally owned, has found success without any grant support and has recently been contacted by the Food Network to be featured on the channel! She added:
“We put out a good product, and people enjoy our food and our company. I provide free entertainment just by being myself! Folks out here have a palette for the countryside, and we provide that for them.”
