Dr. Louis Feurino generously gave us a few minutes of his time to talk with us about his award-winning business and the outstanding online reputation he’s managed to build.
The first question we had for Dr. Feurino was what sets his practice apart from the many others in Michigan. Here’s what he had to say:
“I have more training. I am not just a psychiatrist; I just finished training as a psychoanalyst. I don’t prescribe meds anymore, and when I look back on my skills now versus five years ago, it’s night and day. I have decades of experience as a therapist, and I’ve used all that feedback to refine my skills in other areas. My practice is built up with a lot of people who’ve tried a lot of things before me, and I was their final destination. I have a better range of skills than most of the people in the same line of work since I am a specialist in both ways.”
We also wanted to know what Dr. Fuerino’s mission is and how he works to make the world a better place at his practice. Here’s his response:
“The mission of the business is to help people create lasting change, to increase the quality of their life. I’m helping people identify the long-term patterns of behavior that create a lot of the situations they’re in — and once they understand their own behaviors, it is easy to help them learn how to adapt. We want to help people learn about how they can make immediate adaptations to their situations, but the second part is to teach them how to increase their general adaptability.”

“I try to go over the top and provide the best service I can. I get ongoing supervision and training from the best doctors in my field. I aim to constantly improve my skill. Of course, I do Google Adwords and other digital outreach marketing, but I’ve learned how to be less afraid of taking risks. I can see my own warning signs when I am approaching irrationality, and I’m not afraid to fail or be criticized. The only way I learn is through critiques.”

“First, find out who is the most successful person/people that are near you and give them a call. Ask how they do it; ask if they will help you learn. Second, if you’re having trouble with your fear of risk or a skill set you don’t have, you need to make sure you have all the training that you need. If you want to be among the best, you have to have superior skills. The third thing is that you need to know yourself and learn how to roll with the punches, avoiding collapse into catastrophe, and do the rational thing by planning out your next steps and staying focused. You still need to be open to the idea that what you’re doing is not the best thing. Thoughtfulness cannot be overrated. Thinking is the enemy of panic.”
