Thomas Johnson, the owner of Technology Unlimited, generously gave us a few minutes of his time to tell us about this one-of-a-kind business and its award-winning online reputation.
The first thing we wanted to know was what it is that sets Technology Unlimited apart from the many other computer It services in Georgia. Here’s Thomas’ response:
“Our customer service speaks for itself. We have a 24-48 hour, and in most cases, same-day turn-around on diagnostics. We offer free diagnostics, and a lot of people are skeptical when they come to us. I have heard on several occasions [from clients] that every other person or company they’ve used says they give a free diagnostics, but that they always end up paying for something, including the diagnostics. They turn around and come to us after that bad experience…Also, if the repair does not fix the issue, the customer is never charged, even if expensive parts go into the repair.”
We also wanted to know why they do what they do at Technology Unlimited and how they work to make the world a better place. Here’s what Thomas had to say:

Thomas went on to add:

Building Success Through Quality Service
When we asked Thomas about Technology Unlimited’s secret to such a strong online reputation, he said:
“I think it’s mainly our quality of service, the care we give to customers, the personal touch, the conversations and the back-and-forth communication that we give — they really like the way we call back and let the customers know what progress we’re making on their repairs. We follow up with an email to each customer after they pick up their equipment and literally ask them to give us a rating on Google or Facebook of their experience.”
Outside of building the kind of online reputation any business owner would envy, Technology Unlimited has spread the word about who they are and what they do through Facebook, Google ads, Yelp and an electronic billboard — which is located on the main thoroughfare in Columbus — but their main source of new business is word of mouth.
Clearly, Thomas knows a thing or two about growing a business and building an online reputation. Here’s his expert advice for the many other business owners out there:
“Just to be honest and upfront with the customers. Never try to deliver or offer something you really can’t deliver on. If you know you won’t be able to deliver on something, be honest with the customer. I’ve turned several away if I find it’s something I can’t repair. Like I said earlier, I’ll eat the cost on whatever I’ve dumped into the repair if what we’ve done doesn’t resolve their issue. In my opinion and experience that prompts the particular customer to spread the word that, ‘Hey, these guys are trustworthy, and they really know what they’re doing. They don’t just say that they do a free diagnostic and don’t do it; they really come through with what they’re saying they offer.’”
