Not Your Average Physical Therapy Center

We were excited to learn all about VASTA Performance Training and Physical Therapy and how they have gotten where they are today, so we sat down with the owner and director of physical therapy, Jeff.

The first thing we wanted to know was what it is that makes VASTA Performance Training and Physical Therapy stand apart from its competitors. Jeff told us about how focusing on a specialty means they can offer the best possible service. He shared:

“We try to be a specialty practice. As a specialized physical therapy group, we don’t offer general physical therapy services. We offer orthopedic and sports therapy only. People who really identify with and need those services come to this practice specifically. We won’t try to be a one-stop-shop and serve everyone’s needs in the community. This allows us to be very good at what we do. All of our physical therapists are board-certified orthopedic and/or sports specialists. That way, people who come in receive high-quality care, and they feel like the group providing that care is purposefully trying to provide them with a good experience.”

Jeff went on to tell us about their overall business mission, saying that they want to provide the kind of quality, focus, and convenient care an athlete might expect if they were a professional or at a Division I school. He said:

“We provide a feeling of security and a feeling of being taken care of when you come in.”

Building Success, Online and Off

VASTA Performance Training and Physical Therapy has earned a fantastic reputation, so we asked Jeff how they have managed to grow their business and get such great reviews. He shared:

“We have a deliberate and systematic focus on customer service. In health care, expectations for customer service are very low for the average consumer, so we try to provide fantastic service all the time. We regularly solicit feedback internally. We do this for a few reasons: one, because, if people aren’t super excited early on, we want to intervene in whatever way we can, and two, we want to give our staff positive feedback. This helps keep staff motivation up and reduces burnout. Every now and again, we identify a customer who gives us really positive feedback, and we feel like what they have to say about us is the message we want to give to the public. When we get those, we give them a friendly nudge.”

In addition to building the kind of online reputation that any small business would envy, VASTA Performance Training and Physical Therapy have spread the word about who they are and what they do mostly through word of mouth and customer referrals.

There are many businesses out there that are looking to build as impressive a reputation as VASTA Performance Training and Physical Therapy has managed to. We asked if Jeff could share any expert advice with these companies. Here’s what he had to say:

“Don’t try to be great at everything. Know what you’re great at, and focus your efforts there. If you try to function as a generalized practice that does everything, then you won’t do anything great.”

Congratulations to VASTA Performance Training and Physical Therapy for being a 2019 Top Rated Local award winner, and special thanks to Jeff for taking the time to speak with us!
