Owner, Jeremy Archer took a moment to speak with us about his company’s online reputation and success. Here’s what he thought we should know:
What is your secret to such a strong online reputation?
It’s really simple. We just focus on doing great work. I know it’s a basic answer, but it is that easy. We give an honest, well-researched quote, and unless anything significantly changes, we stick to it when we’re in the field.
What makes you different? In other words, if you had one minute to sell somebody on why they should choose you, what would you say?
Garage doors are garage doors, so the difference with us is really service. We’re an honest company and we try our best to educate our customers on functionality, safety, and maintenance. We don’t just get in and get out as fast as we can. Garage doors can be dangerous, and the extra time investment is worth it to keep our customers safe and happy.
Why do you do what you do? In other words, what is your mission and/or how do you attempt to make the world a better place?
Honesty and integrity are key values of ours. We keep our morals at the forefront of everything we do. We’re a Christian company, so that’s our basis and our “why”. We always keep in mind the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
Outside of building a strong online reputation, what else do you do to market and grow your business?
It started as word of mouth, and little by little, we’ve done some advertising. We tried AngiesList, but it wasn’t really effective for us specifically, so we’re playing with the big boys now. We’re spending money through Google and Local Service Ads. It’s a slow progression. Even if you’re moving in the right direction slowly, it’s still the right path. It’s a process, and we’re always trying to think of new options; we even do publications in church bulletins to help grow the business.
What advice do you have for other businesses trying to build a strong online reputation and grow their business?
Don’t focus on the bottom line or your paycheck. If money is your object, you’re going to lose. Focus on treating people fairly and ensure that’s at the core of your business practices.
