Not Your Average Jewelry Store
We were excited to learn all about how Calhoun’s Jewelers has been able to build such an impressive reputation, so we sat down with the co-owner, Doug Calhoun. The first thing we wanted to know was what it is that makes Calhoun’s Jewelers stand apart from their local competitors.
Here’s what Doug has to say:
“We take it to the next level, to a place that most shops wouldn’t. We care about our customers. They have brought us challenging repairs like something sentimental that they want to be restored, and, since we have the latest equipment, it is very rare that we would say that we can’t fix something. Other jewelry retailers can’t provide what they need and will refer them to us because they don’t do glass or sterling silver…I had somebody bring in gallstones who wanted to make a necklace and we did it… We use our own custom-designed 3D CAD system, we sketch it out or ask them to bring in a picture of it, and we make a print up on our laptop, then 3D print it to make a cast, then we can cast in any metal they want. We have a big screen TV in our showroom that shows us doing these CAD designs. We have our own watchmaker on the premises. We are covering all the bases.”
This dedication to providing unique designs and having all of the equipment necessary to work on any piece of jewelry really helps to drive home the company’s mission, which, Doug says, is to treat others with dignity and respect and to provide them with the best service possible.

“My brother is 56, I’m 60, he has two sons…and this business will go on to them. We are passing on our values to them as well. We hope this can go on for another 50 years.”
