We were excited to learn all about Colonial Jewelers and how they have gotten where they are today, so we sat down with the Marketing Director, Megan.
The first thing we wanted to know was what it is that makes Colonial Jewelers stand apart from its competitors. Megan told us:
“We have been in business for seven decades, and through that time, we have built a great reputation. Our sales team goes through extensive training. They really are experts, and you leave with more knowledge than you came in with. Jewelry is something you want to touch and feel, and we help give you that personal experience.”
Making sure that customers are talking directly to an expert that goes through extensive training helps build trust with the community. In addition to having some of the most highly trained staff around, the owners are both gemologists. They can tell you all about the products because they hand select everything themselves, including which diamond dealers they work with. They choose dealers who follow certain ethics, like Forevermark.
Building Success, Online And Off
In addition to building the kind of online reputation that any small business would envy, Colonial Jewelers has spread the word about who they are and what they do by networking and being present in their community. Megan said:
“We are really big in our community. We raise money to bring cancer research to our town. We do some in-store events and do some blogging. We do a big wedding event where we invite brides to talk to hundreds of local vendors. Our online focus is to display what we have to offer and encourage and educate the customers to come in to the store.”
