We were excited to catch up with Combs Auto Repair and hear about how the last year has gone for them, so we sat down with the owner, Mark.

Mark started off by telling us a bit about their business and their team, as well as what makes them stand out compared to others in the industry. Mark told us about their honest business practices, saying:

When we asked Jerimy what they’ve done to continue to get such great feedback, he said:

We were excited to catch up with Pellman’s Automotive Service and hear about how the last year has gone for them, so we sat down with the owner, Brad Pellman.

Brad started off by telling us a bit about their business and their team, as well as what makes them stand out compared to others in the industry. Brad shared:

“We have been in business for 24 years! We are family-owned and -operated and treat people the way we would want to be treated. We want our customers to be our friends and not just our clients. We understand that car repairs are expensive and unpredictable, so we try to help the customer make the right decisions and educate them on the whole process and repair. We try to give people options when it comes to how they should approach the repairs. We address the immediate repairs needed as well as what may come along down the road. We also recommend the proper maintenance to prevent issues further down the road.”

Making It As A Small Business

It takes a lot of courage, and even more hard work to make it as a small business in today’s world. We asked Brad what has been the most rewarding part of being a small business, like Pellman’s Automotive Service. Brad said that the best part has been being a part of the community. He said that they have very high-level technicians and they take pride in what they do, which includes taking in cars that other shops can’t repair and assisting people who are traveling across the country.

He told us a bit about their amazing employees, saying:

“We focus on our employees’ connection with the customer. That is so important. If somebody isn’t doing a good job connecting with clients, they generally don’t work out with us. We want technicians that listen and care and truly put an effort towards taking care of the customer.”

There are many businesses out there that are looking to build as impressive a reputation as Pellman’s Automotive Service has managed to. We asked if Brad could share any expert advice with these companies. Here’s what he had to say:

“Don’t be afraid to charge for what you do. Always be professional, and charge a fair price that is reflective of your overhead.”

So, what’s next for this two-time award winner? Brad said that they are focused on their existing building and on keeping their customers happy. He said that there is a bit of a technician shortage, so they are looking for young individuals to train to become the next great technicians! Brad pointed out that technology is constantly changing, so they are constantly learning!

Brad also wanted to make sure to give a special thanks to his 20 employees, and to the community.

“The community is who we need to thank; they have supported us for 24 years. The fact that they are talking about us means we are on the right track,and that we are doing the things we are shooting to do. Thank you, Boulder!”
